About the author

At seventeen, B. B. Daber was chosen to spend a year as an exchange student in Brazil. He arrived speaking no Portuguese, lived with four host families, kept a journal the whole year, and somewhere along the way came out of his shell.

Hearthguest is his first novel. It was inspired by that year, but it is entirely a work of fiction: its world, its characters and everything that happens to them are invented.

Away from the page, he writes software, builds robots and watches baseball.
